Hello CCO,

I am pleased to announce the details of our upcoming annual Winter Lunch Meeting(s).
Yes, this year we have two get togethers!

Eastern Ontario Get Together

This event is new this year, and is scheduled for Saturday January 23, 2016. It will be located in the hall of St. Paul's' Presbyterian Church, 971 Woodroffe Avenue, just off the Queensway in the west end of Ottawa. We will begin with sign-in at 11:30, have a light lunch at 12 noon and the speaker(s) after that until 3:30pm or so. Cost is $20.

The featured speakers and topics will be:
Vlad Milutinovic VE3JM: "The Challenge of Building a Contest Station"; and

Rich Ferch VE3KI: Using DX Clusters for DXing and Contesting."

Bryan Rawlings VE3QN has also agreed to give a brief presentation and to answer questions on the new WRC band allocation and on other regulatory matters.

Please send an e-mail to VA3RKM @ rac.ca or contact Dave VE3AV if you are coming. That will help us to order enough food.
Regards, Bob VA3RKM

Oakville Winter Meeting
The Luncheon will be held in the Knights of Columbus, Marian Hall, Oakville (link below) from 12 noon till 4 pm on Saturday, February 6, 2016.   Lunch will begin serving between 12:30 and 1:00.   Our lunch is being catered, and will be served buffet style.  We will have two entrees this year;  Stuffed Pork Loin and Chicken Cacciatorre, both served with all the trimmings, dessert and coffee.   The hall’s cash bar will be open.  Prices are very reasonable.

This year, we have a great line up of guest speakers and presentations planned to provide you with some entertaining and educational fun:

  • Rick, VE3MM will introduce us to a technology he knows very well, with his presentation entitled: Skimmer Server - Search and Pounce Contesting Aid for your Shack.
  • Mike, VE3GFN will present "Readings from the Little Pistols pages".   We are all familiar with Mike's Little Pistols Page column, which he has penned in every recent issue of NCJ.  Mike will elaborate on the best of his tricks and advice!
  • Igor, VE3ZF as been traveling again this year, and will update us on his various expeditions.  Igor is a very avid contest traveler!
  • Tom, VE3CX has also been travelling this year and will share with us, his photo album of PJ2T and a couple of prominent east coast US contest stations!  Tom says operating from PJ2T is "simply AMAZING!"  He will show us why.
After this, there will be plenty of time to ragchew and to catch up with friends and contest competitors. We have the hall, all afternoon.

The cost for the Luncheon will be 25 dollars (taxes included).   Please note that the club is subsidizing the event again this year, hoping that as many of you as possible will join us.

Rumour has it that we will have at least a couple of contesters making the trek from ONN.   If they can make it to Oakville, so can you!

Please let me know if you will be attending.   We need to provide the caterer with an accurate head count so that he can do his planning.

I would like to thank Harry, VA3EC for arranging the hall for us again this year.

73,

Dave, VE3OI
