Hello CCO,

I am pleased to announce the details of our upcoming annual Winter Lunch Meeting.

The Luncheon will be held in the Knights of Columbus, Marian Hall, Oakville (link below) from 12 noon till 4 pm on Saturday, 31 January.   Lunch will begin serving between 12:30 and 1:00.   Our lunch is being catered, and will be served buffet style.  We will have two entrees this year;  Stuffed Pork Loin and Chicken Cacciatorre, both served with all the trimmings, dessert and coffee.   The hall’s cash bar will be open.  Prices are very reasonable.

This year, we have a great line up of guest speakers and presentations planned to provide you with some entertaining and educational fun:

  • Peter, VE3HG is going to hold a QRP Contesting Workshop.  Peter’s presentations are always lively and informative.
  • John, VE3EJ will teach us all we need to know about RF Transmission Lines, something we all take too much for granted.   John gave this presentation last year at the Dayton Contest University, so you can be sure it will be top notch.
  • Igor, VE3ZF will give us the details of his two expeditions to Manitoulin Island this past year.  Igor is a very dedicated traveller for contests.
  • Mike, VA3MW is going to talk on UAVs (Drones), commercial and hobby types, and how they can affect ham radio in the higher bands.  As you know from our summer barbecues, Mike is very passionate about UAVs.

After this, there will be plenty of time to ragchew and to catch up with friends and contest competitors. We have the hall, all afternoon.

The cost for the Luncheon will be 25 dollars (taxes included).   Please note that the club is subsidizing the event again this year, hoping that as many of you as possible will join us.

Rumour has it that we will have at least a couple of contesters making the trek from ONN.   If they can make it to Oakville, so can you!

Please let me know if you will be attending.   We need to provide the caterer with an accurate head count so that he can do his planning.

I would like to thank Harry, VA3EC for arranging the hall for us again this year.

73,

Dave, VE3OI
